In a horrific incident, a 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a one-year-old child in South Delhi’s RK Puram. Investigation revealed that the brutal incident occurred on Sunday morning and after raping her, the accused, in an inebriated condition, had also shoved a wooden stick inside her intimate area. The victim is recuperating at Safdarjung Hospital and has been stated out of danger.

He took her to an isolated place and raped her,” the officer added.

The incident came to light when a student of Delhi University, who was on his way to a nearby temple, spotted the accused with the girl behind a car in the area. “The alert student immediately raised an alarm and informed the locals for aid. The accused was apprehended from the spot and locals thrashed him before informing the police about the incident,” police officer said, adding that after receiving the PCR call, police rushed to the spot and victim was taken to Safdarjung Hospital.

The 21-year-old student of Ram lal Anand College told the police he was going to nearby temple when he saw the man with the girl who had been stripped off her clothes and was inserting a broken wooden stick into the child’s vagina. “On the basis of the student’s statement, a case was registered under Sections of rape (376) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and several Sections of Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at RK Puram police station of South Delhi,” the officer added.

In another incident, a four-year old girl was sexually assaulted by a 25-year-old man near a CGHS dispensary in West Delhi’s Janakpuri area on Tuesday evening.
