The accused has been identified as Salman alias Arman, a resident of Khajuri Khas area in Delhi. Police said that he is a drug addict and had been to a Juvenile Correction Home in 2018 in a murder case.

According to a senior police officer, late on Thursday night he made a PCR call on 112 and allegedly threatened to kill Modi.

“A preliminary investigation has so far suggested that the man was under the influence of drugs and made the PCR call post midnight after being scolded by his father around 10 AM,” he said.

“During interrogation he revealed that he wanted to go to jail and so made a PCR call for the same.

When asked why he wanted to be in jail, the accused claimed ‘Wahi mann lagta hai mera. (I like it there)’,” said the police officer. The man also revealed that he had taken smack around 7 PM on Thursday and is addicted to drugs.

The accused will be jointly interrogated by the police and the IB officials as per protocol before any legal action is taken.
