The Delhi Traffic Police launched a special drive against drunken driving from Friday night. The targeted checking will be outside hotels, bars and pubs in posh areas like Khan Market, Connaught Place, Hauz Khas village, Nehru place, GK-1&2, Defence Colony, Rajouri Garden and outside prominent malls on Delhi. The objective is to have zero tolerance towards this offence as it endangers the life of driver and other road users. Traffic police teams equipped with Alcometers will check the motorists and strict action shall be taken against defaulters. Traffic Police has also tied up with taxi aggregators (e.g Uber) to put up their stalls outside selected locations from where cabs will be available for safe drive home.
There will also be discount at late night hours for those availing the facility at select counters.
All motorists are requested to cooperate with traffic police in this effort to save themselves from prosecution and accidents.
