Affirming that the Delhi Public School Ghaziabad (DPSG) management body has not worked in synergy with the district administration, irate guardians defied prohibitory orders of the administration on Monday. They staged a dharna outside the District Magistrate (DM) office despite prohibitory orders enforced under Section 188 of CrPC.
The parents alleged that the district administration seemed helpless in front of the fallible school body. “It did not bother showing its account books to the district administration as demanded by the DM for inspection. The three branches of DPSG were allotted subsidised land to provide education gratis to the poor but all norms were flouted by the school. Instead fee enhancement at 40 per cent has been imposed on hard up parents,” rued an aggrieved parent. They said parents were left with little option but to demur in order to convince the district administration to force school management to roll back the hike. Taking parents’ woes into account, the District Magistrate SVS Ranga Rao had earlier enforced prohibitory orders and sought the school’s account books, but the school brazenly defied all directives.
The three branches of DPSG, including Meerut Road, Vasundhara and Dasna, are controlled by local society headed by retired bureaucrat Om Pathak. “Being controlled by a former Ghaziabad DM, DPSG management disregards the DM. Parents are bearing the brunt and being denied justice at the local level. A school of thought is being developed among parents to file a petition in the Allahabad HC,” said Alok Arora, a parent.
