Mystery over hair tresses getting chopped off is getting murkier by each day. In a recent spate of incidents in the national Capital in the past 24 hours, Delhi Police has been flooded with calls of hair locks getting mysteriously chopped off. While nine cases of hair chopping was reported from the areas of Outer, South-West Delhi and East Delhi, on the other hand, DCP Outer MN Tiwari sent out an audio message appealing to the media not to publicise the hair chopping instances as children like his 8-year-old daughter are getting frightened.
The Outer DCP said that he was shocked when his daughter asked him to close the doors and windows of their house in West Delhi on Wednesday. “My daughter heard the recent stories about supernatural powers chopping off women’s hair in Delhi. But when she heard that even I had received such a complaint, she was scared that her hair could be chopped off too,” Tiwari said.
The DCP further said in the audio message, “If a child who lives with a police officer can start believing in such falsehood, what can be expected of childrenIJ Are we replacing the scientific temperament of our children with such beliefsIJ”
In the first incident, a 52-year-old woman alleged that her braid was chopped off while she was sleeping in her room at South-West Delhi's Kapashera.
