Don't allow these MlAs in House: Maken to Speaker

In wake of the Delhi High Court ruling setting aside the AAP Government’s order on appointment of 21 of its legislators as Parliamentary Secretaries, Pradesh Congress president Ajay Maken on Thursday requested Speaker Ram Niwas Goel that these MlAs should not be allowed to participate in the proceedings of a day-long special Assembly Session on Friday as another plea seeking disqualification of their membership was pending before the Election Commission.

Stating that 11 MPs were disqualified following a sting operation in 2005, Maken requested the Speaker that morality and ethics demand that the three AAP legislators who had already been removed from the city Cabinet by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should also be disqualified.

The Congress leader added convening of the special Session had no relevance as this was for the first time that members of the House have not been provided with the agenda of the Session. He even said Kejriwal was not going to attend the Session as he was busy with his poll campaigning in Punjab.

Maken said when the city was fighting a host of infectious diseases, Kejriwal was in Punjab, his deputy Manish Sisodia too was camping in Goa and his labour Minister was in Gujarat. He said another Minister was also outside Delhi.

“They seem to be least bothered about the problems being faced by Delhiites,” he alleged.

The Congress leader said it was high time that the Chief Minister should rename AAP as the Khas Aadmi Party as 21 of its leaders were holding profitable posts. “Before the elections, Kejriwal had said that his MlAs will get a honorarium of Rs 25,000 and they will live in normal houses. But see their lavish lifestyle. They have betrayed people of Delhi.”
