After the horrific case of an assault and forced confinement of a 24-year-old domestic help came to light, the Delhi Police has arrested three people, including owner of the house identified as Atul lohiya where she was employed.
Also, the placement agency owner, Ganesh and his colleague, Saraswati, were arrested on the charges of not giving her salary.
The case was reported last Saturday, when the DCW chief Swati Maliwalhad learnt of the incident on Friday and reported about the case. The victim had come to Delhi in search of work and had contacted the placement agency in Shahadra.
She was referred by Ganesh to Atul lohiya, and she later started working at lohiya’s residence in the month of June. She had alleged in her complaint that lohiya initially started mistreating her and used to abuse her. When she protested, he would viciously beat her up.
She was beaten with iron rods also.
She was later shifted to Ram Manohar lohia hospital by the placement agency.
“We had detained the owner when the incident was reported, he was interrogated and we found that he was complicit in the crime. He had forcefully detained her and had assaulted her on previous occasions. We are also looking into the nature of injuries which may have been inflicted in the past,” said a senior police official.
The placement agency owner, Ganesh has refuted the charges of not paying her salary by saying that he used to pay the money to lohiya, and that it was his responsibility to pay her maid.
“We are currently questioning Ganesh and will also look into the documents and see if the placement agency is registered or not after which the appropriate action will be take. There may also be further arrests in the case and we are investigating the case,” the official added.
