After receiving a spate of complaints from parents shortly after notifying about the helpline for nursery admissions, the Directorate of Education removed its notification late night on Tuesday. This sudden withdrawal of the notice which had the details of the grievance redressal mechanism has left the parents miffed who are blaming the DoE for their “un-preparedness” to tackle the complaints even when the admissions are around corner.
The DoE, however, maintained that there is a mechanism to redress grievances of parents and urged the them to remain calm. “There is no need to panic. There is a helpline to address the grievances and we will notify about it soon,” said an official from the DoE. On January 7 the DoE had issued a notification saying that parents will be able to make complaints to the Education Officers through the helpline number. Following this, several parents started approaching the concerned authority with their grievances but the DoE pulled out its notification a few hours later leaving a hazy picture again.
However, the notification had mentioned that Flex boards were to be set up by January 10, but it was not made clear when the parents could call on the helpline number. Parents opined that admissions are just around the corner, if even now they cannot complaint, then when will they doIJ “There will be different problems during the admissions, and there are different problems before the admissions. If right now it can’t be handled, it will be crazy after January 15 once the procedure begins,” said Indu Parashar, a first time parent.
