Docs seek time-bound assurance from Centre

Though the Delhi Government hospitals’ resident doctors are satisfied with the assurances made by the city Government in the minutes of the meeting following which they had called off the strike, resident doctors and other staffs of the Centre-run hospitals have expressed unhappiness with the promises made by the Centre and sought time-bound assurances from the Government.Dr Pradeep Singh, member of Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA), said: “The minutes of meeting that we received were not same from the assurances given to us by the Centre. There are no time-bound assurances from the centre.” He also alleged that that no development is seen till now in any of the hospitals.

Now, The FORDA members working at Centre-run hospitals have written a new letter to the Centre to revise the minutes of the meeting. “We have asked the Centre to rework on the things which are lacking in the centrally-run hospitals such as adequate life saving drugs, security at workplace and timely payment of their salaries with proper time-bound assurance,” said Singh, a doctor at Ram Manohar lohia Hospital. Not only for patients, there is no drinking water facility in the hospital for doctors as well, said Singh.Citing incidents of attacks on the doctors and staffs of the hospitals, Dr Singh said, “Today morning a security guard was beaten up by patient’s attendant, when he tried to intervene saying that only one person is allowed with the patient inside the hospital.”When asked whether they are planning for to relaunch the agitation, Singh said: “We are here to serve people. We just want that the Centre should revise the minutes for the welfare of hospitals, doctors and patients.”
