The sleuths of Delhi Police’s Special Cell have arrested four Afghan Nationals for allegedly trying to smuggle heroine in national Capital. The accused were arrested from Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport and are admitted in Safdarjang Hospital where doctors have extracted 920 grams of ‘heroine’ from their body. Police said more heroine is expected to be extracted from these accused and it may take few more days to excrete all the capsules of heroin from their abdomen.
The accused have been identified as Abdul Haq Noorzai, Mohammad Naeim Noorzai , Mohammad Esmael Noorzai and Mohammad Nasim Noorzai all residents of Farah in Afghanistan.
According to Pramod Singh Kushwaha, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Special Cell, on February 23, specific inputs were received regarding international gang indulgingin smuggling of suspicious articles in India from abroad is active in Delhi-NCR would be arriving at Delhi airport following which a trap was laid and all four accused were detained.
“All the four suspects were taken to Safdarjung Hospital and a written request was made for their medical examination to verify the suspicious material, if any, in their bodies.
The doctors prepared the MLCs of all suspects and carried out their X-Ray & other examination and found suspicious capsules in their body. Thereafter all suspects were given medical treatment for excretion of these capsules from their stomach by the doctors,” said the DCP.
“Doctors excreted 21 cylindrical capsules from suspect Abdul Haq Noorzai, 20 cylindrical capsules excreted by Mohammad Naeim Noorzai, 21 cylindrical capsules excreted by Mohammad Esmael Noorzai and nine cylindrical capsules excreted by Mohammad Nasim Noorzai. 520 grams of Heroin recovered from 71 capsules.
All the four accused are still admitted in Safdarjung Hospital and further recovery of capsules is expected,” said the DCP.
“During interrogation, it is revealed that the accused had come to Delhi on the pretext of medical treatment on medical visa but were actually smuggling heroin.
This Norco drug cartel is headed by Drug lords based in Kandhar, Afghanistan. They are using this method to smuggle contraband on a frequent basis to India. The accused persons have also stated that a consignment of heroin was further to be supplied to African nationals,’ said the DCP adding that so far 122 capsule containing, 920 grams of fine quality heroin has been excreted from their abdomen and a case under section 21/23/29 of NDPS Act at Special Cell police station.
