While the Yamuna Expressway will be toll-free for all the three days during the upcoming F1 racing event to the Buddh International Circuit, the DND flyway will allow toll-free movement only on Sunday, October 27, the final day of the racing event.
According to an official of the Noida Toll Bridge Company ltd (NTBCl), toll-free movement will be available only through the Noida toll plazas. “The Mayur Vihar toll plaza will not be toll-free,” said Anwar Abbasi, spokesperson of NTBCl. “For the DND, it will be toll-free for twenty-four hours. Starting from Saturday midnight (October 26) up to the midnight of Sunday, October 27,” said Abbasi.
Meanwhile, Jaypee officials said that the free ride would be only up to the race circuit. Commuters using the e-way to travel up to Agra, Mathura, Jewar, etc will be charged as usual. Commuters from Delhi, Agra, Mathura and Noida will have a signal-free and toll-free journey and they would be able to reach the race venue smoothly.
A senior administrative official said that they had written to the DND Authority last week to draw out a smooth traffic plan and intimate the administration by October 24. “We have asked all parties concerned to study the traffic patterns of the past racing events and draw up a plan for peak hour and peak day traffic,” said Sanjay Chauhan, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Gautam Budh Nagar. “The sponsor and Jaypee group have been asked to estimate the number of vehicles expected to hit Noida roads and accordingly contract with the toll road operator to make it free of toll tax,” Chauhan said.
