A 26-year old engineer of the Delhi Jal Board was arrested for allegedly raping an MBA student in Tughlak Road area on the pretext of marriage. Police said that the accused, Nitesh Verma, lives in Paharganj area and had met the victim around two years ago at a common friend’s marriage function.
The victim told the police that after meeting a few times, the accused proposed her for marriage. She had also informed her parents about the proposal. “After some months, the accused developed physical relationship with the victim, but for the past two months, he had been avoiding her and had also told her that he did not want to marry her,” a senior police officer said.
