In the run up to Formula One Grand Prix due this week, Gautam Budh Nagar district administration along with Noida Traffic Police has chalked out a plan for uninterrupted flow of traffic from all entry points of national Capital to the Buddha Circuit International in Greater Noida.
The authorities have decided to close all gaps in medians coming on the ways to the venue and to create gaps at suitable points near the venue for smooth and congestion free travelling. Over 1 lakh people, including 65,000 spectators, are expected to reach the circuit during the event held between October 25 and 27. Meanwhile, the DND Authority has also announced that no toll be collected on the last day of Formula One event as the sponsor of the event said he would pay the total amount of toll to the concessionaire.
The authorities have planned to regulate traffic of three major routes, namely Chilla regulator, DND flyway and Kalindikunj Bridge, which merge on Noida-Greater Noida express highway by closing all cuts coming on these stretches. Three cuts of express highway, including cuts of Sector 82 and 93, will also be closed for common people and the motorists will be allowed to reach express highway to Yamuna Expressway via round-about without reaching Pari Chowk and other congested roads of the city.
On Yamuna Expressway, two loops will come up at a distance of 7 km and 12 km, which will directly connect the venue. The Nodal Officer for the event, MP Singh, said that they have been working on the plan and once they get a green signal from top level, they will implement it.
“As thousands of spectators, including foreign delegates, are expected to attend the racing event, we will try our best to maintain smooth flow of traffic in the region. We have constituted a separate cell and have demanded over 350 traffic personnel from outside districts for this purpose,” said Singh.
