Despite Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) trying everything to woo voters, it may lose in some of the core constituencies due to the disenchantment of the youth. Sources say that the party’s face Arvind Kejriwal may be the main reason for it.
A random talk with the young population of the national Capital is an indicator that young voters are unhappy with AAP shifting it focus from Paanch Saal AAP Ki Sarkar to Paanch Saal Kejriwal. Voters feel that the party may be lose interest in the aam aadmi and follow the same tactic as other parties practice to garner votes.
On social media and discussion fora, the youth lately has been sharing AAP’s election motto Paanch Saal Kejriwal a lot. However, most of these people sharing this are also comparing the stark resemblance of this slogan with BJP’s recent banner Ab Ki Baar Modi Sarkar. According to one person on social media, this shows how the party has wavered in its agenda.
“I have always supported AAP because I stood for the fact that they were a party of the common man who didn’t care about winning the election more than winning the trust of people. This time with their sudden campaign promoting one man instead of the party as a whole, they have lost our faith. This shows that they are aping the BJP to win,” he said.
Recently the party also released a song sung by Vishal Dadlani called Paanch Saal Kejriwal. This has further put them in the rat race, says a student of DU on social media. She added, “There was a time when the party said Aap Ki Sarkar Banegi, but now it is clear that they are also going to indulge in a sort of one-man army led by Kejriwal.”
Meanwhile, many people have come out in the defence of the party saying that the party has been providing blue prints for the city by involving the common man as well.
