Dirty money, clean hands?

Casting fresh allegations on the funding of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), a breakaway organisation called AAP Volunteer Action Manch (AVAM) on Monday said that four fake companies had donated Rs50 lakh to AAP in April 2014.  As per Karan Singh and Gopal Goel of AVAM, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party received Rs2 crore last  year from four “dubious” companies, a charge strongly rejected by AAP which challenged the Centre to  order a probe by any Central investigation agency, including CBI.

AVAM claimed that the money was donated to AAP on the midnight of April 15 last year. AAP called it a conspiracy to tarnish its image ahead of the February 7 Delhi Assembly elections and challenged the Government to get the matter investigated by any of its agencies. To support their claim, the volunteers of AVAM gave out four transaction IDs of donations each amounting to Rs50 lakh, all made at 12 am on April 5, 2014. The companies that made the donation were Goldmine Buildcon Private ltd, Skyline Metal And

Alloys Pvt ltd, Sunvision Agencies Pvt ltd and Infolance Software Solutions ltd. These companies however, had all “fake addresses, common set of directors and absolutely no business at all,” said an  AVAM member. “They don’t buy and sell anything. They make no money they only pay their auditors. It is a case of organised money laundering,” he added. The addresses of these companies happened to be mostly in unauthorised colonies and villages in Delhi. While one company had an address of D-8 Gokalpuri another was apparently based out of 146 gali no. 37, Shad Nagar, Palam Colony and one was even based out of shop no. 2, Khasra Number 403 and 367, Village Bakoli.
