Commuters travelling through South Delhi on Friday should prepare for traffic restrictions and diversions around Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Stadium, where Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh is scheduled to perform as part of his Aura India Tour 2026. The Delhi Traffic Police has announced special traffic arrangements from 1 pm until midnight on October 30, identifying six main diversion points and two additional locations where restrictions may be introduced depending on traffic conditions. Commuters have been advised to avoid affected roads, allow extra travel time and use the Delhi Metro.
According to the traffic advisory issued on Thursday, vehicular movement could be affected on Bhishm Pitamah Marg, Lodhi Road, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, Arch Bishop Marg, Fourth Avenue Road, Fifth Avenue Road and Dayal Singh College Road. Internal roads around JLN Stadium, the CGO Complex and Lodhi Colony are also likely to experience disruptions. The affected stretches include the Barapullah Flyover between the INA side and Jangpura Metro Station Gate No. 2, as well as Lala Lajpat Rai Marg between Defence Colony Flyover and Lodhi Colony Flyover.
At the Lodhi Road-Dayal Singh College Road T-junction, vehicles will not be allowed to enter Dayal Singh College Road. Traffic on Lodhi Road between Lodhi Flyover traffic signal and Aurobindo Marg will continue to move straight.
Vehicles approaching JLN Stadium Marg from Lala Lajpat Rai Marg will not be permitted to turn towards the stadium and will be directed towards Lodhi Flyover. A similar restriction will apply to the slip road on Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, where vehicles heading towards Soochna Bhawan will be diverted towards Lodhi Flyover.
At the Bhishm Pitamah Marg-JLN Stadium traffic signal, vehicles will not be allowed to proceed towards Gate No. 1 or Kotla Mubarakpur Flyover. Motorists will have to take a U-turn towards Mehar Chand Market.
Traffic approaching the Kushak Nallah Bus Depot traffic signal will not be allowed to proceed towards stadium Gates 3 to 7. Vehicles heading towards Lodhi Road will be diverted through Fourth Avenue Road, while those travelling towards Aurobindo Marg will be directed towards INA.
At the Mehar Chand Market T-junction, vehicles will not be allowed to enter Bhishm Pitamah Marg and will instead be directed towards Lodhi Road, Fourth Avenue Road or Jor Bagh Road. Two additional diversion points may be activated if required. These are the Kotla Mubarakpur traffic signal and the Bhishm Pitamah Marg-Lodhi Road T-junction.
The traffic police has recommended using the Metro to reach the stadium. Passengers travelling on the Violet Line can alight at JLN Stadium or Jangpura stations and walk towards Gates 13, 14 and 17.
Those travelling on the Yellow Line can use INA or Jor Bagh stations and take a cab or other ride to the designated drop-off point near Kushak Nallah Bus Depot for Gates 3, 6 and 8. Metro services will remain operational. There will be no public parking at or around the stadium. Parking for special invitees will be available at Sunehri Pula Bus Depot and Dayal Singh College. Taxis, auto-rickshaws and app-based cabs will be permitted to pick up and drop off passengers only at designated locations. These include Arch Bishop Marg, Lal Masjid in Pragati Vihar and the Kushak Nallah Bus Depot traffic signal. Roadside parking and halting will not be permitted.
For commuters approaching from north-west, west, south-west and south Delhi, the advisory suggests routes via Aurobindo Marg and Lodhi Road, with designated drop-off points at Arch Bishop Marg or Kushak Nallah. Those travelling from south, east and south-east Delhi can approach via Lala Lajpat Rai Marg and use the Lal Masjid drop-off point.
Motorists have been asked to follow directions from traffic personnel, avoid roadside parking and give priority to ambulances and emergency vehicles. The traffic helpline is 1095, while emergencies can be reported on 112. Commuters can check live updates through the official Delhi Traffic Police website, Delhi Traffic Police, or its official social media account.
The Delhi Metro will extend train services till midnight on October 30 across its network, except the Airport Express Line and Rapid Metro, Gurugram, to facilitate the movement of around 70,000 spectators expected to attend singer Diljit Dosanjh’s concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said additional train trips would be operated to help spectators return after the concert. Standby trains will also be kept ready to handle any unexpected surge in passenger traffic.
The timings for purchasing QR tickets through the Delhi Metro Sarthi mobile app will also be extended by an hour in view of the revised service timings, the DMRC said.
Additional staff, customer service personnel and customer facilitation agents will be deployed at JLN Stadium Metro station and key interchange stations to guide commuters and manage passenger movement, it said.
Security arrangements will also be strengthened at the station, with additional personnel, door frame metal detectors and enhanced screening measures to ensure orderly movement of passengers.
It mentioned that JLN Stadium Metro station, located on the Violet Line connecting Kashmere Gate and Raja Nahar Singh, is the nearest station to the concert venue.
