Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said that the tagline would soon become popular like Delhi. “Delhi City in a blend of ‘Historical and Modern ethos’ and the tagline represents the true sense and feel of Delhi,” she said.

“From the days of Mughals to the British and now, Delhi has delighted everyone. It embraces everyone as a family member, which is its greatness and biggest identity hence, the tagline represents the city truly,” she said. Dikshit said the committee sat for months to select the winner from ‘Dilkash’, ‘Dilwaali’, ‘Damdaar’ and ‘Shandaar’ Dilli among others.

The Chief Minister said the idea behind having a tagline for the city was to sum up the essence of the State.

“Delhi has seen tremendous changes over the past few years and is at par with other world-class cities. Delhi Tourism has played a vital role in bringing this change and this initiative of introducing a tagline will surely bring in heavy dividends in terms of promoting Delhi as a destination. The idea behind the tagline is to promote Delhi as a tourism-friendly destination and is an endeavour of an aggressive marketing plan to promote Delhi in the global map,” Dikshit added.
