Addressing a rally at Rohini Sector 21, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday stated that distribution of highly subsidised food under the Food Security Scheme would not affect the procurement prices of farmers. Moreover, she promised of allotting 50,000 low-cost houses within five months, which would be free for those belonging to the Scheduled Caste category.

"The houses would be allotted to registered urban-poor families and residents of JJ clusters. The flats would be provided to SCs for free, whereas for other eligible families a loan would be arranged in order to meet their contribution," she added.

With Assembly elections round the corner, Dikshit further emphasised on the development of unauthorised colonies in the city and said her Government will take strict action against officers harassing residents belonging to the 20-point program colonies.

In another step to woo the voters, Dikshit declared regularisation of the extended village of 'abadis'.

She further said that with Rs 1,800 crore, the Government plans on strengthening roads in urban Delhi and also extending the Metro network up to Haryana border.

While referring to the regularisation of unauthorised colonies, Dikshit stated that no such colonies would remain without developmental works.

Dikshit slammed the leading Opposition party by calling its promises 'a bunch of lies'. "The BJP Government had nothing to do with the development and progress of the city. They changed three Chief Ministers during their regime of five years. Today, they are making false promises. Their intention is to mislead the people in order to harvest political gains," she alleged.

While referring to electricity price hike issues, Dikshit stated that the power rates in Delhi are cheaper than the NCR towns or other Metros. As for water, she said that the Government is depending on Haryana for adequate share of raw water which would help solve the water crisis in the city.

The rally, which was attended by around 50,000 people, was organised by Parliamentary Secretary to Chief Minister Surender Kumar and Jag Pravesh Kumar.

The meeting was also addressed by Delhi Congress president JP Agarwal and Delhi Urban Development Minister Arvinder Singh lovely.
