In a veiled attack at the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday accused it of promoting divisive politics. She, however, said no party would be allowed to hurt communal harmony in Delhi.

Dikshit was speaking at a function organised to inaugurate the work for providing sewerage system in more than 12 unauthorised colonies under the Okhla Assembly segment.

“Certain parties are taking the riot route to capture power as they have become impatient while remaining the Opposition for years together,” remarked Dikshit and urged the public to keep such parties at bay as they have no plans of development and blamed the Opposition for fomenting hatred in society and adhering to the divide-and-rule policy.

However, talking about the sewerage system, Dikshit said around 1.10 lakh residents of Okhla Assembly constituency will benefit from this project.

“The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has also taken up the work for providing and laying internal and peripheral sewer lines in Batla House, Gafoor Nagar, Okhla Village, Okhla Vihar, Noor Nagar, Noor Nagar extension, Gaffar Manzil, Hazi Colony, Jasola and Harkesh Nagar. The work involves laying 53.61 km of new pipelines. The cost of this project is estimated to be around `52.78 crore. The project is likely to be completed within three years,” said the Chief Minister.

lauding her Government, Dikshit said that during the last 15 years, the city had developed exponentially. She referred to development in sectors like transport, education, health, basic infrastructure, unauthorised colonies, economic and social condition and extolled the Delhi Metro for being the longest and the finest subway route.
