Soon, major Delhi Government hospitals will start the facility of dialysis, CT scan and MRI to cater thousands of patients every day in the Out-Patient Departments (OPDs), said Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Thursday.
Currently, the facility is available at lok Nayak Hospital and GB Pant Hospital only. With the help of PPP model (Private Public Partnership) for services, the Government is keen to boost the healthcare system in Delhi, said Jain.
“Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital, Ambedkar Hospital will start the facility soon,” the Minister told The Pioneer, adding, “we are selecting more hospitals to launch this medical facility.”
“Delhi Government is mulling to replicate ‘doctors on call’ model of private hospitals and create a pool of specialists in every district for the purpose to avoid criminal wastage of resources”, Jain said.
“Each zone will have a hospital and instead of deploying doctors on permanent basis in those hospitals, we will have ‘doctors on call’ like in private hospitals,” Jain said at Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Monday.
The Government is working to divide Delhi into five zones which will have district-wise pool of specialists/ doctors, he said.
Moreover, the Government is working to digitise public health records first in Government hospitals and then in private hospitals. “We want to make Delhi a medical hub of the country with best medical services,” he said.
The Health Minister added that doctors above the age of 50 years have been asked to join hands with the Government in oreder to create a better healthcare ecosystem in the city.
To provide timely medical aid to accident patient, Jain said, “We are coming up with an insurance policy where accident cases will be treated free of cost both in private and Government hospitals,” adding that number of hospital beds in the Government hospitals will be doubled from 10,000 to 20,000 by the end of 2017.
The Pioneer had reported that the City Government is gearing to launch a universal health insurance scheme, including accident insurance as a part of which accident cases will be treated free of cost, both in private and Government hospitals.
