Booking an auto rickshaw will just be a call away. In a bid to provide safe auto ride to women, elderly and differently-abled, Centre for Women Safety and Empowerment (CWS) has initiated ‘Rajdhani Ride’ service in the Capital. The organisation will not only impart training to the auto rickshaw drivers but also track the autos through GPS and will provide autos on call.
To book an auto, commuters can call on 3051600 and the details will be passed on to the member autos of the initiative. The booking will be confirmed when the commuter gets a confirmation message. The move aims to provide a safe auto ride, especially for the women commuters in Delhi. As part of the effort, CWS is bringing together auto drivers for this initiative and imparting required training to them. The auto drivers who will become the members of this effort will provide the services on call or through the online booking of the organisation. Initially, 500 autos are part of this initiative and plans are afoot to increase the number of autos as per the demand.
According to a CWSE spokesperson, the responsibility to run the initiative has been handed over to Monota Travels private limited. The autos, which become the members of Rajdhani Ride scheme, will be connected to the control room of the organisation.
“Though the autos in Delhi are fitted with the Global Positioning System, the member autos of the initiative will be monitored through a different tracking system,” the spokesperson added. The initiative will greatly benefit the commuters dependent on autos as its members will charge according to the meter. Those booking the autos on calls will have to book 30 minutes before the commuting time and will have to pay Rs30 extra, apart from the fare charged by the meter. The organisation on its level will ensure that those who become the members of the initiative are of good character so that they do not get indulged in any criminal activity with the commuters.
