AAP supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched a no-holds-barred attack on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, levelling allegations of corruption against him in reference to the raging Adani issue. Kejriwal accused Modi of being the main investor helping industrialist Gautam Adani for his own benefits. Speaking in the Delhi Assembly, Arvind Kejriwal said, “Despite the Hindenburg report and criticism from every corner, the Prime Minister is saving Adani. In politics perception is important, but Narendra Modi is not worried. The SBI, PF offices are being told to help him. If JPC meet is ordered, PM Modi will suffer not Adani,” Kejriwal said.
Meanwhile, BJP legislators walked out of the House as AAP MLAs, one after the other, levelled allegations against the Prime Minister. Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, in a Press conference at the Assembly premises, alleged that the AAP MLAs were speaking the language of "Pakistan" during the debate on the resolution. "The matter which could not be taken up by the Assembly was discussed against the rules. We will lodge a complaint against this at an appropriate forum," he said.
Kejriwal claimed to have a detailed conversation with a senior BJP minister, who informed him about the alleged deal between PM Modi and Gautam Adani. “I was told Adani is being backed by Narendra Modi, and he is the main investor in the Adani Group. Adani is only the front managing Prime Minister Modi’s money. Adani is only a manager,” alleged Kejriwal. He said if a joint parliamentary committee (JPC), Enforcement Directorate or CBI investigates the Hindenburg report on Adani, Narendra Modi will have to bear the losses.
The Central government has taken 85 lakh crore debt in the last 7 years, while only 55 lakh crore worth debt was taken in the last 67 years. There is rampant loot by the Centre. They have looted more in seven years than what the Congress had looted in 75 years. The country is passing through difficult times. We are deeply worried about the situation," he charged. “Narendra Modi was already elected as Prime Minister, now he wants to become the richest man in the world. For his own benefits, Modi ji pressurised Sri Lanka into giving the $442-million wind power project to the Adani Group,” alleged the Delhi chief minister. He alleged the wind project is not being owned by Adani, it is being owned by Narendra Modi himself. The Prime Minister is taking all projects from various countries only for himself in the name of Adani, said Kejriwal.
“Two years ago when six airports were auctioned, government at the last moment changed the conditions to benefit Adani. 30 percent of the airport business in the country is with Modi ji,” said Kejriwal.
The Assembly, dominated by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), passed the resolution tabled by party MLA Sanjiv Jha demanding that a message be sent from the Assembly to Parliament for considering a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the Adani issue. It also sought that the Supreme Court expands the scope of a plea on electoral bonds to look into the possibility of money from Adani being "transferred" to the ruling party at the Centre through electoral bonds.
Earlier, the House was adjourned twice due to protests by BJP MLAs against the debate. Speaker Ram Niwas Goel gave a ruling asking the members participating in the debate not to name the prime minister.
