Dera violence: Ghaziabad DM orders closure of schools

Ghaziabad district administration has ordered closure of schools in the district in view of the violence in neighbouring Haryana.

“Orders have also been issued to keep all schools and colleges in the district closed tomorrow in view of the violence,” said Ghaziabad District Magistrate Ministhy S Nair.

The DM took the step to protect schoolchildren, said an official.

The order to close schools and colleges is only for Saturday but will be reviewed in light of the developing situation, the official added.

Meanwhile, police said they were keeping tabs on the situation in Ghaziabad and the supporters of Dera Sacha Sauda were being kept under surveillance.

“Thousands of followers of Baba Ram Rahim live in a camp in Nang Gram and Karhera. We are patrolling both the areas to make sure no untoward incident takes place,” said Ghaziabad SSP, HN Singh.

Meanwhile, before UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's  proposed visit to Ghaziabad on August 31, the Principal Secretary Housing Mukul Singhal visited Ghaziabad and inspected the progress of Economic Weaker Sections (EWS) housing projects under The Prime Minister's Housing scheme.

Speaking to the mediapersons, the Principal Secretary said that out of projected 24 lakh proposed houses in the State for the weaker sections, 4.5 lakh houses are to be built by housing department agencies. The Ghaziabad share would be at around 20,000 houses through Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), the housing development corporation and other agencies. To make it efficient and smooth for the public, the media support is needed. The process of allotment is screened through State urban development agency (SUDA). The allottees would benefit by the subsidy of 2.5 lakh in which 1.5 lakh would be subsidised by the Central Government and 1 lakh would be subsidised by the State Government.

The credit line subsidy would be eligible for the houses under the PM housing scheme for three tier income slabs. Below Rs 3 lakh, 6 lakh and 12 lakh annual income group citizens who can avail subsidies from Government.

The public is to be aware that they are not cheated by fraudsters who claim construction of houses under this scheme.

The public is needed to be aware whether the individual developer is registered under this scheme and is registered under Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA). At present total 258 projects are registered under RERA, 245 private projects and 13 projects are from GDA. The PM housing scheme covered the repair of old houses to new design of more ventilation also, the principal secretary added.
