A 24-year-old nurse at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital committed suicide on Monday afternoon by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of the hostel.

Police said the deceased, Bineeta Sebastian, was employed at the Ganga Ram Hospital for the past one year after completing her three-year diploma course in nursing from the same hospital. No suicide note has been found yet and the parents have been informed. According to senior doctors, she was under depression. She had not taken her dinner on Sunday and even stopped talking to her hostel friends, police said. On Monday she missed her duty at 12.30 pm at the general Operation Theatre. One of her friends later discovered her hanging.

Senior officials of the hospital said that she was rather  friendly  and helpful. Sebastian was staying in a single room accommodation. On Sunday night she told one of her friends that she was not feeling well and slept before dinner and later locked herself in the room. VK Kapoor, medical superintendent, said the reason of the suicide is yet to be ascertained.
