A policeman committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in Ghaziabad town, according to officials. The incident was reported on Monday morning in Defence Colony area under the jurisdiction of Murad Nagar police station, said officials.
Police said Himanshu Sharma (27), currently posted as a constable in Meerut, was living with his wife, daughter and mother in Defence Colony of Murad Nagar town. He used to commute to Meerut daily from his residence.
Cop’s mother Saroj Bala said on Monday morning, Himanshu returned from the morning walk as per his daily routine and right after coming back home, he went to the terrace, she said.
“We thought he might have gone to get ready for the office but when he did not return for quite a long time, I went to his room where I found him hanging from the ceiling fan,” said his mother.
“We brought him down and rushed him to a local hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. He was suffering from depression and was undergoing treatment by a local doctor,” said his mother.
SP Rural RP Pandey said, “A case has been registered and the body has been sent for post-mortem, the Meerut police have been apprised of his death.”
