Depressed by spouse's death, woman ends life

A 58-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the iron grill of a window at her residence in Greater Kailash on Thursday morning. Preliminary investigation revealed she had been depressed since her husband died in April. Police have recovered a suicide note where she wished her body be cremated in the traditional manner and not at an electric crematorium.

Anisha luther lived alone in W-156 of GK-I after her husband Vivek, a retired engineer, passed away. “On Thursday morning, the victim’s relatives — who stay on the ground floor of the same building — found her hanging by the window grill when they went to meet her,” a senior police officer said.

They called the police control room (PCR) at 10.10 am. “Initial investigation revealed that she was depressed because of her husband’s death. Her two children are settled in the US. Police have informed them. A suicide note was recovered and police are now waiting for arrival of her children,” the officer added.
