Failing to get an admission to a Delhi University college, a 19-year-old girl attempted suicide by jumping off the college building here on Tuesday. Her application was, reportedly, rejected due to an OBC certificate issued by authorities outside Delhi.
Police have recorded the statement of the girl and college authorities have been asked to ascertain the exact cause the incident. The girl was later counseled and she is under-observation.
The girl is currently recuperating in lady Hardinge Medical College. “There are minor fractures to her legs but she is out of danger,” said a doctor.
She had come to Kalindi College to apply for BA Honours course following the third cut-off list on July 3. However, the college authorities refused to accept her application as her OBC certificate was formed on Bihar’s address. Depressed over this, the girl jumped from the first floor of the building. 0
