Poor medical facility in Noida’s Sector-30 district hospital has become a cause of worry for dengue patients in Gautam Budh Nagar District.

Over 640 dengue cases have been reported in Noida while three patients reportedly succumbed to the deadly disease.

The authorities are not equipped in Noida to handle the situation which many soon spin into a major crisis. Also, 500 suspected cases of dengue have been recorded in different city’s private hospitals. The numbers of OPD (Outdoor Patients Department) patients exceed 2,800 every day in the District Hospital.

People, who approach Government hospital, are angry due to failure of the Government hospital in providing proper treatment.

On Wednesday night, a doctor of ESIC hospital, Sector-24, Noida was badly beaten by angry mob after a woman dengue patient died in the hospital.

Dr. BR Ambedkar Multi Specialty Hospital in Sector-30 was a dream project of former Mayawati Government, but it does not have the infrastructure and medical supply to provide proper care to large number of patients. The doctors are referring critical dengue patients to higher medical institutions in New Delhi.

Dr Nagender Mohan Mathur, Chief Medical Superintendent of District Hospital, said, “We are trying to handle the situation to the best of our ability. As the hospital is equipped with only 100 beds, we have placed two patients on a single bed.”

“We have made additional bed arrangements in the gallery,” CMS added. “Total 172 patients have been found positive till September 10.”

However, District’s health department has declared 118 dengue patients in GB Nagar district. Dr Neelima, Director of Medical (DM), ESIC Hospital, Sector-24, Noida said, “We have tested 70 patients and found 26 of them dengue positive. The total number of dengue patients has reached 350 in ESIC hospital this season.”

Additional Chief Executive Officer of Noida Authority Rajesh Prakash Singh, said, “We have been conducting awareness drive in the city to advise people to stop mosquitoes breeding in and around their houses and avoid mosquito bites by wearing full sleeve clothing. We have made 20 teams who make daily inspections. Also, fogging teams have been formed to spread anti-larval medicines to check the spread of disease.”
