The Market traders Associations (MTAs) and the Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) of South Delhi have mixed opinions on the work of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) in the past five years and are going to vote on the issues such as sanitation and parking facilities.

Nageshwar Singh, MTA president, Saket, said that in the forthcoming elections the main demand of the people from Saket will be sanitation. There is no proper sanitation arrangement made by the corporation in the last five years. “The sanitation workers do not come to collect the waste on regular basis. After various complaints given by the people residing in the area to the civic body, there no action taken by them in the matter,” Singh said.

“The Dhalao of the waste is used by the MCD for storing their equipment, instead of garbage, the streets are filed with waste in front of the PVR mall, due to the mall is also not clean,” he said.

“The community hall made by the MCD has broken tiles in it and we have been approaching the municipal officials to get it repaired but no one addresses the grievance. We will vote by keeping in view all the current situation,” Singh added. While appreciating the work done by the BJP in the MCD, Sharda, MTA president, Greater Kailash, said that they are really satisfied with the work done by the saffron party councilors in the area.

“In our area, there was a major problem for the parking, but it was also resolved as a multi-level parking is being constructed in the area by the MCD,” he said.Criticising the AAP, Sharda said that they won't be handing over the reign of the corporation into the hands of the corrupt Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. We don’t want the MCD to become like the other departments in Delhi where corruption is done by the AAP.Over the remarks of Kejriwal to clean the three landfill sites, Sharda said that this was a blatant lie and that for eight years he promised the people that he will clean the Yamuna River but instead the river has become more polluted.

Appreciating the work of the BJP, TP Sharma, Secretary RWA, Hauz Khaz, said that they are very much satisfied with the development done by the party in their area. “The Corporation has been very supportive and whenever we have reported any problem and have taken stern action to solve the issue,” Sharma said.
