Delhiites had to sweat it out on Wednesday with day temperature soaring to the season’s highest of 42.1 degrees Celsius. While the coming two days are expected to remain the same, there will be a brief respite for city dwellers over the weekend as the Met department has predicted partly cloudy sky and light rains.
“Temperatures will remain the same on Thursday and Friday — hovering around 42 degrees Celsius. However, there is a western disturbance coming toward the Capital because of which on Saturday and Sunday the mercury may remain below the 40 degree mark,” said a Met official. The weatherman has predicted temperatures to oscillate between 24 and 42 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
On Wednesday, city dwellers had to bear a scorching day with the mercury rising to 42.1 degrees Celsius, the highest this season. The maximum temperature was three degrees above normal with weatherman predicting further rise in temperature in the next few days. According to Met department, the minimum temperature was 22.8 degrees Celsius, which is one degree below normal. Humidity levels hovered around 18 per cent and 60 per cent.
“Day temperatures were bearable on Wednesday because there were gentle winds blowing across the city. The good sign is that the wind is cool and they are easterly winds making the heat comfortable for city dwellers,” said another official.
