Delhi shootout: Special cell suspects involvement of Muzaffarnagar gang

Published on:

Two days after three men including dreaded criminal Bhupender alias Monu were brutally murdered in the Mianwali Nagar area on Sunday, a team of Special Cell suspect the involvement of a Muzaffarnagar gang who allegedly supplied AK-47s to the accused men to eliminate Bhupdender.

Investigators said that a team of Special Cell which called one Mohan Mittal for questioning on Tuesday took him to Meerut.

It must be noted that Mohan Mittal is the uncle of Amit Goel, a national level shooter and a close friend of Bhupender alias Monu. Due to the constant rivalry between Sonu Dariyapur and Bhupender, Bhupender’s life was in danger. Therefore, on the assurance of Amit Goel, Mohan Mittal gave out his bungalow to Bhupender alias Monu free of cost to live with his family.

A senior officer privy to the investigation said, “We are working on two to three angles. According to the first angle, our first suspect is Sonu Dariyapur. We had received an information that Sonu had two close aids — lamba Dariyapur and Surender Khatri. These two persons used to manage the arms and finances for Sonu Dariyapur, who is absconding for last ten years. According to one of the inputs, it was found that lamba Dariyapur had recently purchased a few AK-47. Considering the fact that AK-47s were used to eliminate Bhupender, we are suspecting about the involvement of lamba Dariyapur and his men.”

Post the arrest of the Meerut Based ex-Army colonel Devinder Kumar by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), his associates had been furious and suspected Amit Goel and Mohan Mittal to have passed on information about the 40 illegal weapons among other things seized from Kumar’s farmhouse in Meerut earlier last week.

In the light of the increased threat to Bhupender’s life, against whom eight criminal cases are registered across Delhi, Bhupender Daripyapur, a native of Dariyapur Kalan village in South-West Delhi had shifted to the Bhairon Enclave in Paschim Vihar some time back. A decade ago, close friends Bhupender alias Monu and Satyawan Dariyapur alias Sonu turned into arch enemies after Monu married Sonu’s cousin sister.

Following this, a bloody gang war had erupted between the two sides. On Sunday night, the gang war took a horrific turn, where Bhupender, his associate Arun, Delhi Police ASI Vijay Singh, who was Bhupender’s Personal Security Officer (PSO) were shot dead. While one Constable Kuldeep and Bhupender’s associate Yogesh escaped with minor injuries.
