With an aim to raise the spirit of patriotism and consciousness regarding health and fitness, the Delhi Government kicked off its 75th Independence Day celebrations, ‘Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ on Monday with the Run For Delhi@75 spot-run programme.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia flagged off the run. Sisodia said that the event aimed to signify that even though India is turning 75, the hearts and spirit of its people are still young and full of energy.
“As India enters the 75th year of its freedom, the Delhi Government is stepping up with the ‘Delhi Celebrates Freedom@75’ celebrations and the city will be filled with the spirit of patriotism and colours of freedom. This spot-run was a part of the same,” he said.
“On the occasion of the 75th year of Independence, I congratulate everyone as we celebrate our freedom. I hope that we all can together fill our motherland with spirit, joy, and happiness and keep working for the benefit of each and every person in this country. We will work in order to achieve great heights for our nation.”
Chief Secretary Vijay Dev said, “Let Delhi set an example for the nation that we are all here to celebrate and to run for the celebration of our freedom and fitness, which we owe to ourselves, our community and our country.” The spot-run was held from the Delhi Secretariat to the Raj Ghat, a three-kilometer-long stretch. About 200 employees and officers of the Delhi Secretariat participated in the run in which they were grouped in batches of 10-15 people.
