Delhi Police weeds out marijuana traders

Published on:

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police have arrested two drug runners from Ghazipur Dairy farms and seized 1,575 kilos of fine grade marijuana from their possession worth an estimated `6 crore in international markets.

“The accused arrested are 55-year-old Bhaskar Rao, a resident of Vijaywada and a truck driver, and T Kumar, 29. The modus operandi was to pack cannabis into gunny sacks with lemons and cattle feed so that the drug odour would be underwhelmed,” said Additional Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Ravindra Yadav.

Acting on a tip off by the Narcotics Cell on August 31, Nagraj — a native of Tamil Nadu — and Prashant Kale were established as cannabis suppliers to Delhi, who had ensnared Bhaskar and T Kumar as drug runners to help ply the trade.

Bhaskar was offered `1 lakh by Nagraj to transport marijuana by truck from Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh to a warehouse in Ghazipur Dairy farms.
