The murder-cum-robbery case of 71-year-old Harmeet Kaur has been solved by the Delhi Police in less than 15 hours after she was found dead at her second floor flat in South Delhi’s Kalkaji on Monday morning.
According to a senior police official, the family’s former domestic help, Anil Kumar Sharma, and his friend, Krishna, both from Jharkhand’s Chatra but staying in Delhi for the past few years for livelihood, have been arrested for planning and executing the crime. The police also claimed to have recovered the entire robbed cash and jewellery worth over Rs1 crore from the perpetrators who were hiding at Sharma’s relative’s home in Jaipur. Sharma was sacked six months ago after he became a TB patient, said police.
Joint CP (Southwestern Range), Deependra Pathak said that even after losing his job Sharma remained in touch with Kaur over phone. As he had worked for the family for over a year, Sharma was familiar with everything in the flat.
“Sharma knew the places where the family members kept cash, jewellery, and other valuables. Before executing the crime, Sharma and Krishna, had conducted reconnaissance of the house for 3-4 days,” said Pathak.
