Delhi Police on Monday, examined former Secretary of Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) Sanjay Jagdale and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Indian Premier league (IPl) Sundar Raman to get information about the tripartite agreement between BCCI, IPl team and players.

Jagdale, who played Ranji Trophy for Madhya Pradesh and Duleep Trophy for Central Zone, was examined by Delhi Police at Maurya Sheraton hotel in Sardar Patel Marg. He was accompanied by CEO Rajan. They shared details with the Special Cell sleuths about the revenue model of the IPl in connection with the spot-fixing scandal.

“Investigators wanted to know BCCI's role in the agreement between team Rajasthan Royals and cricketers, as the agreement is a tripartite one,” said a senior Delhi Police officer. He added that apart from that, Jagdale and Raman were summoned to Delhi also to discuss other issues.

Delhi Police team went to Maurya Sheraton hotel where they had a closed-door session with the BCCI and IPl officials. It may be recalled that Rajasthan Royals' CEO Sanjay Borthajhur had filed a complaint against the three arrested players - S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan, charging them with breach of contract. "They (Jagdale and Raman) were not called for questioning. We want to understand certain things," a senior police official said.

Jagdale resigned as BCCI Secretary on Friday. "We have already spoken to two parties of the agreement, the three arrested players and Rajasthan Royals officials. We wanted to take the version of the third party - BCCI, as it is the cricket controlling body in the country and IPl is one of its major tournaments," the official said. Jagdale, who resigned from the BCCI post, was called as he was the signatory on behalf of the cricket body. When asked whether more arrests were to be made in the spot-fixing scandal, the police official said they were looking for eight to nine bookies and fixers who are allegedly involved in the scandal. They are under the scanner and raids are being carried out in different parts of the country to bring them to justice.

The official said that they will oppose the bail plea of the 14 accused persons, whose bail will come for hearing on Tuesday. He also said a team of lawyers, including Dayan Krishan, who appeared for Delhi Police in December 16 gang-rape case, and Rajiv Mohan were examining all legal aspects of the case.

It would be pertinent to mention here that 26 people, including the three players, have been arrested since May 16 from various parts of the country after the scandal came to light.
