Delhi, NCR on storm alert

Delhi, NCR on storm alert
Published on:

Two days after a deadly duststorm pounded Delhi, the city was again put on alert on Sunday evening with the Met Department predicting another duststorm by night. “Another storm was predicted at late night on Sunday due to the ongoing western disturbance. There was a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan due to heating up. The intensity of the storm expected in the Capital shouldn’t be as big as the one on Friday,” said the Met Department.

South, South-West and Outer Delhi were the regions which were hit by the storm late on Sunday night. The weathermen have predicted that the city would be hit by another storm on Sunday.

On Sunday, temperatures in the Capital remained well below the 40 degrees mark with the maximum settling at 37.8°C. The maximum temperature was three notches below normal, while the minimum was recorded at 25.6°C, two degrees below normal. Humidity oscillated between 38 per cent and 72 per cent during the last 24 hours.

The dip in the temperature was attributed to the neighbouring States like Uttarakhand, Haryana and Punjab where rains occurred. “The temperatures were dropped below normal because of rains in nearby States. Monday is likely to be a sunny day,” said an official in the Met Department.

On Monday, the sky would mostly remain clear with the maximum and minimum temperature expected to be between 40°C and 26°C respectively. “The day would start on a cloudy note. But towards the afternoon the clouds would clear making way for a sunny day,” said the official.
