Delhi Metro to have first green power station

Published on:

Delhi Metro's Badarpur-Faridabad corridor, set to be operational in the next two months, will be powered by green technology. It will incorporate a host of other eco-friendly features like solar panels, water harvesting and sewage treatment plants (STPs).

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for the first time will employ a green electrical receiving sub-station (RSS) for this extended Violet line, which has been constructed at Sector 46 in Faridabad. The RSS will cater to the fully 14-km-long elevated corridor, and the nine stations between Badarpur and Escorts Mujesar.

"Solar power panels with a capacity of 50 KWp have been installed in it. The power generated will cater to the requirements of the RSS building and the remaining power will be used for the stations electrical load," said a DMRC official.
