Delhi Govt to redevelop 27 industrial areas

In a bid to create new employment opportunities, the Arvind Kejriwal Government has decided to redevelop 27 notified industrial areas in the national Capital.

The Delhi Government has entrusted the task of preparing the layout of these notified industrial areas to the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC).

DSIIDC will appoint a consultant firm in the industrial area that will prepare the layout of the various industrial areas.

In this context, Industries Minister Satyendar Jain held a meeting with the office-bearers of the associations of industrial areas and local MLAs of the respective areas, at the Delhi Secretariat on Friday.

He discussed the redevelopment of these notified industrial areas along with security measures. A separate budget provision has also been made by the government for the redevelopment of these industrial areas.

After the meeting, Jain said, "There are 27 notified industrial areas in Delhi and there are many industrial units running here. Initially, these industrial areas were categorized on the basis that they would be redeveloped.

However, this matter had been dragged on by the previous governments for years and little to no attempt was made to complete the initiative. Now, the Kejriwal government has taken the initiative to redevelop these areas.

A time limit has been fixed for preparing the layout plan of all these 27 areas." The expenditure on the consultants preparing the layout will be split on a 50-50%  basis between the Delhi Government and the Industrial Association. This will be an exemplary model of cooperation between the public and the Government.

The Delhi Government has announced that the notified industrial areas will be redeveloped in the next five years to generate employment opportunities for lakhs of people in the capital.

The Delhi government is working expeditiously towards making the industrial areas green, clean, and better. In addition, sewage, general waste treatment plants, drinking water supply, industrial waste disposal systems, and roads will be improved as well.

Moreover, processing centers, accredited test labs, training centers, business convention centers, raw-material banks, and logistics centers will be set up in the industrial areas.

The industrial areas to be redeveloped by the Kejriwal Government include Anand Parvat, Shahdara, Samaypur Badli, Jawahar Nagar, Sultanpur Majra, Hastsal Pocket-A, Naresh Park Extension, Libaspur, Peeragarhi Village, Khyala, Hastsal Pocket-D, Shalimar Village, New Mandoli, Nawada, Rithala, Swarn Park Mundka, Haiderpur, Karawal Nagar, Dabri, Basai Darapur, Mundka Udyog Nagar, Phirni Road in Mundka, Ranhola, Prahladpur Bangar, Tikri Kalan, Mundka (North) Godown Cluster, and Nangli Sakrawati.
