Delhi court issues fourth production warrant against Mintu

The Delhi Police has not been able to complete investigation in the case against Khalistan liberation Force (KlF) terrorist Harminder Singh Mintu as the Punjab Police could not produce him before a Delhi court.

The Delhi court has issued the fourth production warrant against Mintu, who is currently lodged in Punjab Jail. It has already been 135 days since the case was registered against the terrorist and the Delhi Police has been granted 30 days more for completing investigation in the case after which a chargesheet may be filed.

Meanwhile, accused Manvir alias Mani Sekhon, who had supplied illegal weapons to Mintu and is currently lodged in Kapoorthala Jail, will be produced before court on Saturday. The Delhi Police is yet to interrogate him too as the Punjab Police failed to produce him despite the production warrant issued against him.

Mintu had escaped from Nabha Jail with Gurpreet Singh, Kashmir Singh, Harjinder Singh, Kulpreet Singh and Amandeep. Kashmir Singh is still absconding. Mani, a cousin of Gurpreet Singh, had picked up the escapees in a fortuner car and while they were passing through Kaithal in Haryana, Mintu and Kashmir were dropped as the others thought that they would be caught if the duo stayed in the car. Mani had then supplied the duo with money and arms.

“The other occupants of the vehicle realised that they might land in trouble if Mintu and Kashmir were allowed to continue in the vehicle. Mani gave them `19,000, two 7.65 mm pistols and two .38 revolvers loaded with two live cartridges each. The weapons were used by the criminals when they escaped from Nabha Jail in November last year. Mintu and Kashmir had cut their beard and hair in order to change their appearance. The Arms as well as the trimmed hair of the duo were recovered,” said a senior police official.

Mintu after arriving in Delhi with Kashmir was arrested at Nizamuddin railway station and a case under unlawful activities (Prevention Act and the Arms Act) was registered after that.
