Delhi BJP vice-president Aamir Raza Hussain paid with his party post for refusing to accept Narendra Modi as the ‘party leader’. Hussain had to quit the post after a complaint was lodged against him in the party’s disciplinary committee by BJP leader Vijay Jolly.
His resignation has been accepted by Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel, a Press statement said. Jolly had complained against Hussain, accusing him of violating party discipline, disowning central BJP leaders and speaking the ‘language of Congress’ while castigating Modi on a TV channel. Jolly had sent the complaint to Ajay Digpaul, who heads the Disciplinary Committee of Delhi BJP.
“While watching a live television show, I was surprised, stumped and shocked to see and hear one of Delhi BJP vice-presidents, Amir Raza Hussain, speaking against the National BJP leadership. He spoke fearlessly against the party leadership without any fear of violating party discipline. Hussain stated on camera that despite being a BJP office bearer, he does not consider Narendra Modi to be his party leader,” Jolly said in the complaint.
The Delhi BJP issued a Press statement saying, “In a letter to party president Vijay Goel, Aamir Raza Husain has stated that while holding an important post in the party he should not have made comments, which could hurt a senior leader. His intention was not to cause anguish against any leader. He has tendered his resignation from the post and his best wishes are always with the party. Goel has accepted the resignation.”
