In another jolt to Delhi law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar, the Bar Council of Delhi on Wednesday wrote to the Delhi Police for enquiring into the authenticity of the certificates furnished by Tomar at the time of his enrollment, claiming that the degrees are forged documents. The council had earlier granted time till May 27 which was further requested to be extended till July by Tomar's lawyer to file the certificates, but was declined by the Bar Council.
"Jitender Singh Tomar has enrolled himself in the council as an advocate by misrepresenting the facts. Both universities claimed that the documents are forged," said BCD Secretary Puneet Mittal in his written complaint to DCP Hauz Khas area. The complaint was filed on May 11 after the two universities whose certificates Tomar had furnished, claimed the degrees were fake.
The complaint letter stated that Tomar had claimed to have obtained a graduate degree from Ram Manohar lohiya Avadh University, Faizabad in UP which the aforesaid university claimed to be forged.
According to the letter, Bihar's Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University stated that the provisional ll.B. certificate bearing a serial number as 3687, submitted by Tomar at the time of his enrollment, was a fabricated document.
"It is, therefore, requested that a detailed preliminary enquiry may be conducted with respect to the alleged forged documents for commission of offences punishable under the Indian Penal Code. The report in this connection may be submitted before the council on or before May 28," wrote Mittal in his complaint letter to the police.
Meanwhile, the Delhi BJP on Wednesday submitted substantial documents to Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi which includes a conclusive report of the Bar Council of Delhi holding Tomar's all educational degrees fake.
