Delhi Government’s urban development department has found deficiencies in the land status report of 312 unauthorised colonies, notified in September 2012 for regularisation.

The urban development department has called a meeting with tehsildar and sub-divisional magistrate (SDMs) regarding deficiencies in the land status report on related to 312 unauthorised colonies.

The reason behind the Government move is to re-examine the maps and ownership of the land as many colonies shown on private land.

Sources in urban development department said that the meeting was convened to highlight the discrepancies/deficiencies regarding ownership of the land regarding colonies on private land.

It would be pertinent to mention that sub divisional magistrates (SDMs) and tahsildars have submitted land status report for khasra nos falling within colony boundary on the basis of maps prepared by Surveyor of India and Geo-Spatial Department limited.

Sources said that there are several colonies left in 11 districts where deficiencies found in the land status report. Central and West district has large number of such colonies. A SDM said on the condition of anonymity that they have submitted the report on the basis of performa given

by the department.

“The revenue department officials are unable to comprehend the definition of government and private land by urban development department on December 12, 2007. Beside the big question is to find out original gram sabha land or whether the gram sabha land was vested or not. To find out whether physical possession with the owner if compensation not received by land owner,” he said.

Earlier, the government has asked revenue department to recheck the land status of 532 colonies existed on government land as residents welfare associations have been shown it on private land. “This will help the government ascertain that the colony is on government land or private land. The move will also help in opening of sale and purchase in these colonies,” said an official.
