lack of coordination among various civic agencies deprived a family in the posh Defence Colony, South Delhi of regular electricity supply for as long as 14 days.
The power cuts began two weeks ago, when an underground power cable was damaged while workers were digging the area to lay sewer lines. Poonam Bevli, the victim had to reel under major electricity and water crisis. As she complained, power supply remained interrupted and did not last for more than 20 minutes at a time. Despite repeated complaints, the problem could not be rectified and only temporary arrangements were made. However, she said her complaint was redressed on Sunday.
“Even as the BSES reinstated the power connection, the electricity conked off the next day. Despite repeated complaints, nothing concrete was done as only temporary electricity was provided. It started becoming increasingly difficult to stay in such conditions as not only did my day-to-day activities get hampered, but my ailing father had to be hospitalised due to dehydration,” Poonam said. However, officials claimed the power supply was restored soon after her complaint.
