The Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to decide its strategy on Delhi’s political situation by this weekend when the party’s Parliamentary Board meets in the Capital on Friday.

While the party would discuss its strategy for elections scheduled in four States, the issue of Government formation in Delhi may also be taken up by the Central leaders. Delhi BJP in-charge and Rajya Sabha member Prabhat Jha on Wednesday said the Central leadership of the BJP is seized of the matter now and a decision would be taken within a week. He said the views of Delhi BJP’s senior leaders, MlAs and seven MPs from the national Capital have been conveyed to the national leadership and they will take a final call on weather to stake claim for Government formation or go to re-polls. He, however, said the party is ready to face any situation, indicating towards the possibility of re-elections in Delhi.

“The Delhi BJP leaders have left it to the wisdom of Central leaders. Whatever the party high command decides, the Delhi leaders have agreed to abide by,” he said adding the BJP would never resort to horse-trading or any unfair means to form a Government. Earlier, senior Delhi BJP leader Jagdish Mukhi had also said that a clear picture on BJP’s stand would emerge in three to four days even as, he claimed, the party was open to all options including Government formation and re-election. Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay has said his party was awaiting invitation from the lieutenant Governor and the party would disclose its strategy only when called by the l-G. He has, however, indicated that managing the numbers in Delhi Assembly would not be a challenge for the BJP while taking a shot at Government formation.
