The Delhi Police on Tuesday solved the murder case of a 45-year-old security guard, who was found dead in a private school in Old Seemapuri last week and arrested a 27-year-old woman and her paramour. It was a deadly cocktail of greed and lust that killed the security guard, a married man, who had been saving money to send his two children to school at his native town in Himachal Pradesh.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Nupur Prasad said, “We have arrested a woman (27) and Sajid (35) for the murder of Devi Dayal. With their arrest, we have recovered Rs 61,500 cash, three mobile phones and a motorcycle,”
The body of Devi Dayal, with head injuries inflicted by a blunt object, was found on Sunday at Bal Convent Public School in Seemapuri. An empty liquor bottle, two glasses and food were also found lying nearby the body. Police had said there were no signs of forced entry. Dayal worked in the accounts unit of a transporter, and stayed in the school as a guard at night.
“It was when the police teams under ACP Ram Singh scanned through the call detail records of Dayal that they found that he was in touch with the woman,” said the officer. During further probe, it was found that Dayal was in a physical relationship with the woman and used to give money to her.
The woman was also dating with Sajid, who works as a driver. Police said Sajid was already married and father of six. “It was during one of those days that while handing over cash to the woman that she spotted Dayal with wads of cash. She informed Sajid about it and they then hatched a plan to kill Dayal and rob his money,” said Prasad. On March 3, after the woman received a call from Dayal to meet him, she informed Sajid who also accompanied her to the school. When Dayal was retiring for the night after having drinks, Sajid came and hit him hard on the head. To make sure that Dayal did not survive, the woman slit his wrists and fled,” said the DCP.
Police said the accused stole the money and also took away the locks of the school gate to give an impression of burglary, added the officer.
