A day after a couple was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a hotel room in West Delhi's Rajouri Garden area, police said that they have established the identity of the woman. The deceased were found with tapes across their mouth.

A senior police officer said, “The woman used to live with her husband and children in Nawada. She is the sister-in-law of the man, identified as K Suresh. For some time, they were having relations opposed by their families. The couple left a suicide note written in Malayalam where in, K Suresh apologised to his mother.”

Their families have been informed. K Suresh, who was a resident of Palakadd in Kerala boarded Rajdhani Express on October 13 and reached Delhi by October 15.

Police said the suicides came to light on Saturday when the couple, who had checked into the hotel on Friday morning did not come out.

The senior officer said that a suicide note has been recovered in which the man said they don’t want to live anymore. According to police, the 29-year-old man checked into the hotel along with the woman, in her late 20s, on Friday morning claiming to be husband and wife.

On Saturday evening, when they did not respond to the hotel staff, the police were called. When they broke open the door, the couple were found lying dead on the bed. “We received a call around 5.30 pm from the hotel. When the door was broken open, they were found dead. The room was booked in the name of K Suresh, resident of Kerala,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vijay Kumar.

The suicide note was addressed to Mr Suresh's mother. “It's a three-line suicide note written in the regional language. It read the person was sorry and doesn't wish to live anymore,” said the note.

During investigation, it was revealed that the couple had ordered breakfast around 9.30 am on Saturday. “While the food was found to be untouched, the tea was consumed,” said the DCP. A senior police officer said that it appears the two consumed a poisonous substance to end their lives. The police said they are trying to reach Suresh's family and are also trying to identify the woman.
