DDA to hand over flats to EWS next year now

Published on:

Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is likely to hand over the flats built under Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category to the allottees in the New Year. Though the flats situated in Karampura of central Delhi, were to be given to the owners in the March of the current year, DDA could not hand it over to them due to unforeseen reasons.

It may be noted that DDA had launched the housing scheme for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in March, 2014.

The buyers were supposed to pay Rs1 lakh as the registration amount. The lucky ones who got the flats were eagerly waiting to get the possession of their abodes during Diwali festivities but the same could not happen because of delay on part of DDA.

However, DDA officials put the onus on the construction agency for the delay in handing over the flats to the buyers.

“Delay was from the construction agency. We cannot handover the half constructed flats. We received the notification from the DlF agency about the completion now,” said a senior DDA official. “The flats will be given to them soon,” official added.

These flats are located at Karmpura area. The site engineer of larsen and Turbo, the construction agency told the pioneer that the flats have been completed.

“The construction of DDA towers is over. They now need to take the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the fire department,” the engineer said.

“DDA is taking time despite the documentation being completed from buyers side. The delay in the procedure in a way helps the private builders to acquire flats by convincing the buyers,” said SK Gupta one of the buyer who is eagerly waiting for the possession key of his flat.
