DDA makes procedure easier to levy misuse charges for its plots

In order to simplify plot registration process, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has made major changes which will make the procedure of levying misuse charges for DDA plots much easier.

In the authority meeting held on Wednesday, it was decided that henceforth, instead of an inspection by the DDA, an affidavit may be accepted from the applicants along with recent photographs and certification by way of affidavit from two witnesses or registered RWAs certifying that there is no misuse of the respective property.

While explaining the benefits of new changes for applicants, a senior DDA official said this new formula is having a co-relation with the commercial rate of the area as well as size of the plot along with the duration of the period of misuse. “Since the benefit derived by the owner/user increases with the size of the plot but the exact area of misuse is not clear in most of the cases, an average of 25 per cent of the size of the plot has been levying misuse and the same has been incorporated in the formula,” said the official.

Meanwhile, for the efficient delivery of parking services to people, the DDA has decided to transfer revenue stream from parking to the Municipal Corporations which would boost the revenues of the corporation as the services transferred to them involve substantial expenditure. “The corporation will be responsible to ensure maintenance of the parking sites, action for any encroachment or misuse whereas MCD will have no rights over the land and could not put the land to any use other than parking,” said DDA official.
