Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal on Monday evening visited a seven-year-old girl at the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital and later tweeted that she was a gangrape survivor.
“In hospital. Visited 7-year-old gang-rape survivor. She underwent a serious operation. Comp heartbroken. Fed up of child rapes in capital! (Sic),” Maliwal tweeted at 9.57 pm on Monday.
A DCW spokesperson said that the crime took place in outer Delhi's Kanjhawala around two days ago. The spokesperson said that the girl had gone out to use a public toilet with her 15-year-old sister when two men on a bike kidnapped her after offering her a joyride.
"The girl was waiting outside the toilet while her sister was inside. The men took her to a secluded place and took turns to rape her," the DCW spokesperson said the girl was injured.
In her another Maliwal mentioned that the girl underwent a major surgery.
"So much darkness. In solidarity, spending the night in the hospital with 7 year old rape survivor. Praying for her recovery and a way out (Sic)," she tweeted.
The police, however, were unaware of the crime.
