The Delhi Commission for Women’s wait for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas is likely to come to an end soon as the poet-turned politician would return by May 24. He has been served a notice by the DCW to appear before it after a female volunteer lodged a complaint with DCW that her name was being maligned and linked to Vishwas and that she has suffered loss of face. The volunteer had filed a petitioned before the DCW that Vishwas should clear the air in this regard.
“Vishwas has to appear in court, in response to the case filed against him by DCW chief Barkha Singh,” said an official of DCW. Sources said that the DCW holds the power to call anyone from across India if a woman living in Delhi was distressed and ill-treated. This comes in retaliation of the claim by AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal that Singh was misusing her powers as a chairperson. On being asked about the response from Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to the letter sent by Singh, it came to forefront that no response has come as of now, as matters of Government and the authority pertains to their own time and framework.
When asked by the Delhi Government’s showcause notice to Singh demanding her resignation for alleged misuse of her power of position, an official close to her said that nobody could force anyone to resign on legal basis and Singh would only be retiring from the post in July end. Vishwas had defied the two summons by DCW after one of the party’s volunteer allegedly accused the former of not voicing against the rumor of illicit relationship between the duo. It may be recalled that Vishwas was summoned by the DCW following an alleged illicit relationship with one of his party’s volunteers. The former has however, declined the rumor and denied to appear in court.
